How to Watch US Netflix From Anywhere in 2026

The US Netflix library has thousands more titles than any other region — including shows and movies that aren't available in the UK, Australia, Canada, or Europe. If you're paying for Netflix but can only see a fraction of the content, here's how to unlock the full US library from anywhere.

Why Netflix Content Differs by Country

Netflix licences content on a per-country basis. A show might be available in the US but not in the UK because another broadcaster owns the UK rights. This means the US library has significantly more content — roughly 5,000+ titles vs 3,500 in the UK.

Netflix detects your country by looking at your IP address and DNS resolution. Change how your DNS resolves, and Netflix sees you as a US viewer.

The Smart DNS Method (Recommended)

Smart DNS is the fastest and most reliable way to access US Netflix in 2026. Unlike VPNs, it doesn't slow your connection — so you can stream 4K HDR without buffering.

Step 1: Sign Up for StreamPilot

Create an account at app.streampilot.tech. The 7-day free trial gives you full access with no credit card charge upfront.

Step 2: Register Your IP Address

Once logged in, your public IP address is automatically detected. Click "Register" to add it to your account. This tells our DNS servers to handle requests from your network.

Step 3: Set Netflix to US Region

In the StreamPilot dashboard, find Netflix in the services list and select "United States" as your region. You can also set other services to different countries at the same time.

Step 4: Change Your DNS Settings

Update your device's DNS servers to StreamPilot's addresses (shown in your dashboard). This takes about 2 minutes on any device:

Step 5: Open Netflix and Enjoy

Open the Netflix app or website. You'll now see the full US library. New titles, different recommendations, and access to US-only originals and licensed content.

Which Devices Work?

Because Smart DNS works at the network level, it supports every device:

  • Apple TV — Change DNS in Settings → Network
  • Smart TVs (Samsung, LG, Sony) — Change DNS in Network settings
  • iPhone & iPad — Change DNS in Wi-Fi settings or use the StreamPilot app
  • Mac & Windows — Change DNS in Network preferences or use the StreamPilot app
  • Fire TV Stick — Change DNS in Settings → Network
  • Game consoles (PS5, Xbox) — Change DNS in Network settings
  • Router — Set it once and cover all devices on your network

Will Netflix Detect It?

Smart DNS is harder for Netflix to detect than VPNs. VPNs route all traffic through data centre IPs that are easily identified and blocked. Smart DNS only intercepts DNS queries — your actual streaming traffic comes from your real residential IP address, which Netflix has no reason to block.

Speed Comparison: Smart DNS vs VPN for Netflix

Netflix 4K HDR requires 25 Mbps sustained. With a VPN, you lose 20-50% of your bandwidth to encryption. On a 50 Mbps connection, that could leave you below the 4K threshold.

With Smart DNS, you keep 100% of your bandwidth. Your Netflix stream goes directly from Netflix's CDN to your device with zero intermediary routing for the video data.

Common Questions

Do I need a US Netflix account?

No. Your existing Netflix account works. Netflix shows you the library of whatever country you appear to be in. Same account, same payment — different content.

What if my IP changes?

Log in to the StreamPilot app and your new IP is automatically detected. Update it with one click. The StreamPilot desktop and mobile apps can do this automatically.
